Charged With Possession of 50 Grams or Less of Marijuana Jackson NJ
All Jackson marijuana possession charges arise out of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10. Subsection (4) applies to cases where someone is accused of possessing 50 grams or less of marijuana. This variety of marijuana charge falls under the jurisdiction of the Jackson Municipal Court as it is a disorderly persons offense. A conviction for possessing 50 grams or less results in a fine of up to $1,000, probation and up to six months in the Ocean County jail. There is also a mandatory driver’s license suspension of between 6 months and 24 months that is to be imposed at the time of sentencing.

When possession involves in excess of 50 grams of marijuana, a violation of subsection (3) arises. This grade of possession of marijuana falls outside the jurisdiction of the municipal court in Jackson and must be directed to the Ocean County Superior Court for resolution.
